With a background in city and regional planning and real estate economics, Barbie Schalmo, AICP, leads the Land Use + Economics practice at the C&S Companies as part of their planning group. Barbie has more than a decade of diverse experience providing market and economic analyses, strategic real estate positioning, land use planning, regulatory process and development advisory services for a wide variety of public and private clients, particularly within the transportation industry. Her professional experience includes a broad range of consulting assignments for commercial and general aviation airports, hospital and port systems, and entities advancing transit-oriented developments and redevelopment projects. She and her team combine market analytics, financial and economic analysis, and timely research with practical knowledge of development and regulatory processes to help target market-supported opportunities and provide tools that support client decision-making while also helping them showcase positive economic contributions to the regions they serve.
Barbie is a Truman Scholar with a Master of City & Regional Planning degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). She serves on the steering group for C&S’s national aviation practice and helped found the C&S Women’s Network. She is a longtime member of CREW Orlando, previously serving on the Board, and was named 2014 Member of the Year.
